Key Takeaways
- Write the logo colors, each role's shirt, color names, method, and logo spot on one sheet; staff pick only size and cut.
- Keep the approved proof and order number with that sheet so reorders match.
- Put the return rule in the handbook before shirts go out.
- No minimum on any method, with bulk pricing as more shirts share a design.

We make company shirts on 89 styles as of October 2026: tees, long sleeves, polos, quarter zips, hoodies, sweatshirts, and jackets.
Picking the shirts is the quick part. Most of the work is deciding what stays the same on every shirt. Get that right and a new hire, a second site, and next year's order all match the first one. After that come the questions owners ask next: what happens to the shirts when someone leaves, and how the IRS treats them.
What Counts as a Company Shirt?
A company shirt, also called an employee shirt, is any shirt your staff wear at work with your logo on it. We make them on seven kinds of garment, and the table shows how many styles each kind has and how far its sizes run.
| Garment | Styles we carry | Smallest to largest size in the group | Women's cut |
|---|---|---|---|
| Short sleeve tees | 32 | XS to 6XL | 2 styles |
| Long sleeve tees | 11 | XS to 5XL | None |
| Polos | 22 | XS to 6XL, plus tall sizes LT to 4XLT | 5 styles |
| Quarter zips and half zips | 5 | XS to 4XL | 1 style |
| Pullover hoodies | 10 | XS to 6XL | None |
| Full-zip hoodies and crewneck sweatshirts | 5 | XS to 5XL | None |
| Jackets | 4 | XS to 6XL | None |
Sizes cover each group as a whole, read from our product pages in October 2026. Most single styles stop short of the group's largest size. The tall sizes come in select colors of one polo, the Nike Dri-FIT Micro Pique 2.0.
We do not list woven button-down shirts, dress or work style. When your team needs them, we source the style on request by phone, email, or live chat. A customer in Massachusetts ordered a Columbia and a DRI Duck button-down this way, embroidered on the chest and the shoulder. He gave his dress-shirt neck and sleeve size, and the team matched it to the letter size the shirts come in: a Large.

We do not rent or launder uniforms, and none of these shirts is rated safety gear. Crews choosing shirts for heavy or outdoor work can start with our guide to custom work shirts for crews and trades. For everyone else, shop custom apparel by garment; each shirt's colors and sizes are on its page.
How Do You Keep Every Shirt Order Matching?
Company shirts stay matched across people, sites, and years when five things are decided once and written on one page, a company shirt sheet. They are the logo and its colors, each role's shirt, the color names, the method, and where the logo sits. Each person then picks only a size and, where a women's cut exists, the cut. Fit is the personal part: in Moody's 2023 survey of 2,560 UK uniform wearers, "tailored to the individual" was one of five design priorities.

In a 2025 r/humanresources thread, HR at a 175-person care facility shared its form for optional company shirts. It asked each person for a style number, size, color, logo color, and logo spot. The form "leads to many many people coming up to ask for clarification." Logo color and logo spot, at least, could have been decided once for everyone.
| Decided once | What to write down |
|---|---|
| The logo | The file, and its colors as the approved proof names them |
| The shirt for each role | One style name per role, such as a polo for the office |
| Shirt colors | The exact color name from the product page, not "dark blue" |
| Method | Embroidery, printing, or a patch for each shirt |
| Logo spot | The placement, such as the left chest, and the size on the proof |
Colors also drift between styles. An HVAC owner on the Service Business Mastery Podcast said new samples were "orange, but they're not similar enough orange to get by." A workwear brand's senior director of sales said its core styles last about five years, so a new hire can "look exactly like everybody else." When a style has to change, order one shirt first and hold it next to the old one.
The worry repeat buyers raise with us most is whether a new order will match the first one. We keep each design and its details on file. Store the approved proof and order number with the sheet, and send us that number when you reorder.
Different Shirts for Different Roles in One Order
One order can put each role in a different shirt. Shirts sharing one design, customization method, logo size, and placement count together for bulk pricing, across styles, colors, and shirt sizes. A different method, spot, or logo color makes a separate design, priced on its own. A white logo for dark shirts and a black one for light shirts are two designs.

Ask the people wearing them, too. Florida Turf Pros' lawn crew "always wants more long sleeve shirts," so the owner asks for the mix before each order.
The owner of two small service businesses in Ontario ordered performance polos in six colors with three embroidered spots, then hoodies. His hoodie art was too dense to embroider at that size, so we printed it instead. Nine months later he reordered six polos with four embroidered spots: "everything looked fantastic as always."
His first order also included PVC patch caps that could not be made before his industry event. We split the order and shipped the embroidered polos first, and they arrived six days before the event week. Patches take a standard 4 to 6 weeks, against 2 to 3 for embroidery and printing, so a mixed set can ship in two parts. Orders shipped to Canada, like his, pay import duties.
Hats belong on the same sheet. When a company's hats are embroidered, our team suggests embroidering the shirts too, so the set matches. A Colorado builder took that advice: "I think I would prefer an embroidered logo on the Nike shirt."
We can also ship one order to several sites or to remote staff; arrange it with us by phone, email, or live chat. When a role needs a collar, shop custom polo shirts with the same logo.
What Happens to Company Shirts When Someone Leaves?
Whether company shirts come back when someone leaves is up to your written policy, so write it before the first shirt goes out. Employers split on this. On the Find Your Gold Podcast, two owners of a pet waste removal company collect shirts back: "we don't necessarily want our uniforms just everywhere." An auto technician on YouTube said "a lot of places don't pursue" getting uniforms back.

A return rule on its own can still turn a few worn shirts into a fight over a paycheck. In a 2020 r/AskHR thread, an employee leaving after five years knew unreturned shirts would be docked from the last check. The two shirts were the ones issued at hire, "old and getting thin," and nobody had issued more. A manager held the whole check anyway: "You getting nothin without MY shirts."
OctoClean, a commercial cleaning franchisor, tells owners on its channel to "put your uniform policy in writing and include it in your employee handbook." A few lines can settle it:
- Who gets shirts, and which shirt each role wears
- How many each person gets, and when worn ones are replaced
- Whether staff can buy extras, and who pays for them
- Whether shirts are worn only during work hours
- Whether shirts come back when someone leaves, and what happens if they do not
Before you deduct anything for shirts from someone's pay, final check included, look up your federal and state wage rules.
Are Company Shirts a Business Expense, and Taxable to Staff?
Company shirts you buy for employees are usually a business cost you can deduct. IRS Publication 334 says a deductible expense must be "both ordinary and necessary": common in your field, and helpful and appropriate for your business. Whether they also count as the employee's taxable pay depends on whether the IRS sees them as a uniform or as everyday clothing.

For that second question, the IRS fringe benefit guide, Publication 5137, keeps clothing out of wages on two conditions. It must be "specifically required as a condition of employment" and "not worn or adaptable to general use as ordinary clothing." That guide is written for public employers, but the test it quotes is the general federal one.
The IRS wording above says nothing about logos. Two tax professionals on YouTube, explaining when work clothes are deductible, both point at one. Jasmine DiLucci, a tax attorney and CPA, says a logo "tends to say okay it's not as suitable for personal use." LYFE Accounting says a required logo polo can be deductible, but required plain black pants cannot.
A shirt handed out once for an event may instead count as a small, occasional benefit, which Publication 15-B calls de minimis. This is general information, not tax advice, so ask your accountant how your shirts are treated before you file.
Ordering Company Shirts for a Small Team, With No Minimum
A small team can order exactly the shirts it needs, because Griwolfe has no minimum on any customization method. A seven-person company on r/smallbusiness in 2025 wanted "like 15" shirts and found that most sites "only let you buy in bulk." Fifteen shirts is a normal order here, with no setup or artwork fee.

The price of each shirt still drops as more shirts share one design. Each product page shows that price at any quantity, and our guide to bulk t-shirt printing explains what moves it.
In the Design Studio you place your logo and see it on the actual shirt before you order. After you order, we email a design proof within 1 to 2 business days and revise it free as often as you need. Nothing is made until you approve it.
Standard production takes 2 to 3 weeks for embroidery and printing, or 4 to 6 weeks for patches, counted from approval. Rush is available on request if you contact us before ordering, and we offer free U.S. shipping.
Griwolfe makes every order in-house in Greensboro, North Carolina, and ships it to you. If you searched for a shop near you to see the shirts first, there are two ways to do that here. You can ask for an undecorated sample shirt for a small fee plus shipping. Or order one finished shirt with your logo; a single shirt is not refundable unless it is defective or differs from the approved proof.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do company shirts cost?
The price per shirt depends on the shirt, the customization method, and how many spots carry your logo. It drops as more shirts share one design, and each product page shows it at any quantity before you design. There is no setup or artwork fee added later, and U.S. shipping is free.
Can a self-employed owner deduct shirts with their own logo?
Often, but it depends on whether the shirt counts as everyday clothing. A visible company logo helps: some tax professionals treat a logo work shirt as less suitable for personal use than plain clothing. Keep the receipts and ask your accountant, because the answer depends on the shirts and how you use them.
What is the difference between company shirts and uniform shirts?
"Uniform shirts" usually means a required work uniform, and many are rented and laundered by a uniform company. "Company shirts" is the wider term for any logo shirt your staff wear. The shirts we make are bought outright: your business owns them, and your staff wash them at home.
Do your company shirts come in big and tall sizes?
Yes, within each shirt's own size list. Five of our tees, five polos, one hoodie, and two jackets run to 6XL. One Nike polo also comes in tall sizes, LT to 4XLT, in select colors. For anything bigger or taller, ask us by phone, email, or live chat; the team can source a style that fits.
Your First Order
Write the company shirt sheet first, then collect a size and a cut from each person. Put the return rule in the handbook before the shirts go out.
When the sheet is ready, browse custom apparel and build your first design in the Design Studio. Order one shirt to check the fit, or the whole team at once with no minimum either way.
