Custom Dad Hats FAQs

What makes a hat a dad hat?

A dad hat is an unstructured six-panel cap with a low or relaxed profile and an adjustable strap. Every hat in this collection is built that way, and most are cotton twill with a curved visor. The Richardson 254RE is recycled polyester twill, and the Richardson 935 pairs performance fabric with honeycomb mesh.

What closures and head sizes do your dad hats come in?

Most use a tri-glide buckle. The YP Classics 6245CM and 6245PT have a buckle with a grommet. The Richardson 254RE has a cloth strap and flip buckle, and the 935 a nylon backstrap. For smaller heads, the Legacy EZA and Valucap VC300A fit 6 5/8 to 7 3/8. For larger heads, the 935 and 254RE fit 7 to 7 3/4.

Which dad hat brands can I customize, and can I get Nike or New Era?

This collection carries Richardson, Legacy, Valucap, YP Classics, 47 Brand, and Imperial, with Richardson the most at four styles as of September 2026. For Nike, the NKFB5677 Heritage Cotton Twill Cap is unstructured with a self-fabric strap: shop custom Nike hats. For New Era or another brand, contact us by phone, email, or live chat, and we will source it.

Can I put a patch on a dad hat?

Yes. Leather, PVC, woven, sublimated, and embroidered patches all go on a dad hat, and we stitch every patch on by hand. The soft front curves under the patch and gives it a relaxed look. Our patch type and hat style guide shows how each patch type reads on a dad hat.

Which customization methods do you offer?

Three families: embroidery, patches, and printing. Embroidery comes in standard flat, 3D puff, and 3D puff chain stitch. Patches come in leather, PVC, woven, sublimated, and embroidered patch, all hand-stitched. Printing is full color. Every method is available with no minimum order.

How do I design my order online?

Pick a product, choose a placement and a customization method, and launch the Design Studio. Upload your logo or build a design from scratch, and watch it on the actual product as you work. After checkout, we email a design proof within 1 to 2 business days, with unlimited revisions.

Will I see a proof before my order goes into production?

Yes. After you place your order, we email a design proof within 1 to 2 business days. You can request unlimited revisions at no charge, and production begins only after you approve the proof. Nothing gets made until it looks right to you.

What is the minimum order?

There is no minimum order at Griwolfe. Order as low as 1 unit with embroidery, a patch, or printing. A single patch item costs more per unit because of patch setup, and 1-unit orders are not eligible for a refund.

Do you charge setup or artwork fees?

No. We charge no setup fee and no artwork fee on any order, and the Design Studio is free to use. Your price reflects the product, the customization method, and the quantity, nothing else. What you see at checkout is what you pay.

Can I mix styles and colors in one order?

Yes. Items sharing the same design, customization method, and size count together as one design group and qualify for the same volume pricing tier. One design can span different styles and colors. Changing the design itself, including its colors, creates a separate design group. So does moving the design to a different placement.

How long does production take?

Standard production is 2 to 3 weeks for embroidery and printing, and 4 to 6 weeks for patch methods, counted from proof approval. Rush is available on request. Contact us by phone, email, or live chat before you order.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free on every US order, excluding Alaska, with no minimum order size. International shipping is available; rates, taxes, and duties are shown at checkout. See our shipping policy for full details.

Can I rush my order?

Yes. Rush production is available on request for every customization method. Contact us by phone, email, or live chat before you order and we will confirm what is possible for your date.
