- Choosing a Trucker Hat Brand
Three of our best-selling hats are truckers from three different makers: the Richardson 112, the Legacy Old Favorite (OFA), and the YP Classics 6606. As of October 2026, our trucker collection holds 67 hats from 12 trucker hat brands, and every one takes embroidery, a patch, or printing. The brand decides three things: the head sizes a hat fits, how its front looks and feels, and whether the maker's logo shows.
Which Trucker Hat Brands Make Hats for Your Logo?
The best trucker hat brands for a custom logo are the ones that make hats to be decorated. Ours are Richardson, YP Classics, Legacy, Flexfit, Imperial, New Era, Nike, Carhartt, 47 Brand, Kati, Valucap, and Locale. Retail names like Patagonia, and the fashion labels that sell designer trucker hats, put their own logo on the front of a finished hat. That is a different purchase.

The table compares one lead trucker from each maker, using each hat's published spec data. Structured means the front is stiffened and stands up on its own, and profile is how tall the crown is. "One size, no range" means the maker publishes no head-size range. The last column comes from the spec data and our own product photos.
| Brand | Lead trucker | Front and build | Listed fit | Maker's mark on the outside |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Richardson | 112 | 60/40 cotton and polyester, structured six-panel, mid profile | 7 to 7 3/4 (XL size to 7 7/8) | Richardson name pressed into the snap strap |
| YP Classics | 6606 | 74/26 polyester and cotton, structured six-panel, mid profile | 6 5/8 to 7 5/8 | Small YP mark pressed into the snap strap; side logo on the Kryptek and Veil camo colors |
| Legacy | OFA | 65/35 cotton and polyester, washed twill, unstructured six-panel, low profile | 6 5/8 to 7 3/8 | Small woven Legacy tab near the back |
| Flexfit | 110M | 74/26 polyester and cotton, structured six-panel, mid profile, snapback | 6 1/2 to 7 7/8 | Small YP mark pressed into the snap strap |
| Imperial | 1287 North Country | 55/45 cotton and polyester, garment-washed twill with foam backing, structured five-panel, mid profile | 6 5/8 to 7 3/8 | Woven label by the snap |
| New Era | NE207 | 100% cotton, structured, low profile, 7-position snap | One size, no range | New Era flag on the left side, Flag colors only |
| Nike | NKFN9893 | At least 75% recycled or organic content, structured, mid profile | One size, no range | Swoosh on the left side panel |
| Carhartt | CT105298 | 100% cotton washed canvas, structured, mid profile | One size, no range | Label sewn on the side |
| 47 Brand | 4710 Trawler | 100% cotton garment-washed twill, unstructured six-panel, low profile | 6 5/8 to 7 3/8 | Small round logo pressed into the snap strap |
| Kati | LC5M | 60/40 brushed cotton and polyester camo, structured six-panel, hook-and-loop back | 6 5/8 to 7 3/8 | None |
| Valucap | VC700 | Polyester foam front, structured five-panel, mid profile, rope braid | 6 5/8 to 7 3/8 | None (tear-away label) |
| Locale | 5PTKR | 60/40 polyester and cotton, scenery-printed five-panel, low profile | 6 3/4 to 7 1/2 | Woven tab by the snap |
Richardson gives you the most choice, with 24 of the 67 hats, then Legacy with 10 and YP Classics with 9. To see any of them with your logo on the front, shop custom trucker hats and start designing on the product page.
Richardson 112 vs Yupoong 6606 vs Legacy
The Richardson 112, YP Classics 6606, and Legacy OFA take the same logos, so the choice comes down to fit and the front. The 112's front is mostly cotton, the 6606's is mostly polyester, and the OFA's is a washed twill with nothing stiffening it. The table adds the Legacy MPS, a structured mid-profile Legacy trucker.

| Richardson 112 | YP Classics 6606 | Legacy OFA | Legacy MPS | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Front fabric | 60/40 cotton and polyester | 74/26 polyester and cotton | 65/35 cotton and polyester, dirty-washed twill | 65/35 cotton and polyester |
| Build | Structured six-panel | Structured six-panel | Unstructured six-panel | Structured six-panel |
| Profile | Mid | Mid, 3 1/2 inch crown | Low | Mid |
| Bill | Pre-curved | Curved | Pre-curved, green underside | Slightly curved |
| Listed fit | 7 to 7 3/4; XL 7 1/4 to 7 7/8 | 6 5/8 to 7 5/8 | 6 5/8 to 7 3/8 | 6 5/8 to 7 3/8 |
| Colors (October 2026) | 84 | 53 | 46 | 31 |
Buyers ask for the 112 by name. A Fort Worth embroidery shop says in a YouTube video that "people ask by this brand by name." Its suggested alternative is the 6606, and it says "the quality is just as great." Many buyers know the 6606 as the Yupoong 6606, after the company that makes both YP Classics and Flexfit.
Some decorators wear the 6606 themselves. A leather-patch hat maker on YouTube stocks mostly 6606s and wears them: "I think they're more comfortable." The 112 offers more choice: 84 colors and an XL size.
Legacy splits the decision in two: the OFA sits soft and low, and the MPS keeps the upright front of a 112. One New Hampshire buyer put Legacy hats with a leather patch next to Richardson 112s in a small first order. "The consensus with everyone so far is that the Legacy with leather patch is the way to go," the buyer wrote. The next order was 30 Legacy hats.
Richardson makes far more than the 112, and our guide to Richardson hats maps its whole lineup.
Which Trucker Hat Brand Fits a Big Head or a Small One?
Richardson's listed fits start and end higher than most brands' ranges, and Legacy, Imperial, and most smaller brands sit lower. Most makers list a head-size range, and the ranges cluster by brand:

| Brand | Listed fit on most of its truckers | Exceptions |
|---|---|---|
| Richardson | 7 to 7 3/4 | 112 XL to 7 7/8; 115 from 6 7/8 to 7 5/8; 110 R-Flex and 172 in S/M and L/XL; 112Y youth 6 3/8 to 6 5/8 |
| YP Classics | 6 5/8 to 7 5/8 | 7005 to 7 3/8 |
| Flexfit | Varies by hat | 5511UP and 6533 in stretch sizes S/M (6 3/4 to 7 1/4) and L/XL (7 1/8 to 7 5/8); 110M snapback 6 1/2 to 7 7/8; 6511 one size, 6 7/8 to 7 1/2 |
| Legacy | 6 5/8 to 7 3/8 | HTA 6 3/4 to 7 1/2; OFAY youth 6 3/8 to 7 |
| Imperial, 47 Brand, Kati, Valucap | 6 5/8 to 7 3/8 | |
| Locale | 6 3/4 to 7 1/2 | |
| New Era, Nike, Carhartt | One size, no range published | Nike NKFB6448 in S/M, M/L, and L/XL |
To find a hat size, measure around the head where the hat sits and divide by 3.14. A head 23 1/8 inches (about 59 cm) around is a 7 3/8, and 24 3/8 inches (about 62 cm) is a 7 3/4.
For a big head, start with Richardson. A Connecticut shop owner who resells our hats wrote that customers loved them, "just tight for the big head people it seems though." The owner then added a Richardson 112 to test, because it comes in an XL.
The YP Classics 6606 lists 6 5/8 to 7 5/8, a range that starts and ends below the 112's. In a YouTube video, a decorator who sells 112s still prefers the 6606's fit: "it sits just a little shorter on the head." For smaller heads, start with Legacy, Imperial, or Valucap, which list 6 5/8 to 7 3/8.
Stretch Fit or Snapback for a Crew?
Most snapbacks come in one size, so you can order a crew's hats without asking anyone (the 112 adds an XL). A stretch-fit cap has no snap or strap in back, so most are sold in sizes. The Flexfit 5511UP and Richardson 110 R-Flex come in S/M and L/XL, so collect each person's size first.
Asked on r/Contractor what caps contractors wear, one reply was "Flex fit is the only thing my guys wear." Another warned that "flexfits die a quick death" for anyone who sweats hard.
The Flexfit 110M, a snapback with Flexfit's fit technology, lists 6 1/2 to 7 7/8, the widest range in our trucker collection.
Whose Logo Is Already on the Hat?
Nike and Carhartt put their own logo on the outside of the hat, where it shows. Most other brands we carry show a smaller mark, like a woven tab or a small mark pressed into the strap, or none at all. We checked each hat's placements on its product page on October 16, 2026. The first four hats below each give up one of the six placements most other hats offer:

| Hat | Maker's logo | Placement it gives up | Placements left |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nike NKFN9893 | Swoosh on the left side panel | Left side | 5 |
| Nike NKFB6448 | Swoosh on the bill and the center back | Back | 5 |
| Carhartt CT105298 | Label sewn on the side | Left side | 5 |
| Carhartt CT106687 | Label sewn on the side | Left side | 5 |
| Richardson 112 | Richardson name pressed into the snap strap | None | 6 |
| Legacy OFA | Small woven Legacy tab near the back | None | 6 |
| YP Classics 6606 | Small YP mark pressed into the snap strap (side logo on Kryptek and Veil colors) | None | 6 |
For corporate gifts, a custom merch company's YouTube video on undecorated hats advises, "don't overlook using large corporate brands like Nike for your corporate swag." A solar company in South Carolina chose Nike hats to give to customers who buy new systems. After seeing the proof ("These are flipping phenomenal!"), it raised the order from 10 hats to 25. If that name is part of the gift, shop custom Nike hats and put your logo on the front.
A maker's mark gets in the way on hats you resell under your own brand. The same video praises caps that are "very lightly branded" with only an inside label, and it counts a strap logo as a con. For private label, pick a hat with no outside mark, and ask us about custom inside labels and branded packaging.
Imperial and Locale put a smaller mark, a woven label or tab, beside the closure. Legacy hats, the OFA and MPS included, carry a small green Legacy tab on the right side near the back. The NE207 shows New Era's flag on the left side in its six Flag colors. The YP mark sits on the right side of the Flexfit 5511UP and of the 6606 in Kryptek and Veil colors.
Which Trucker Hat Brand Is Best for the Job?
The best brand depends on the job: Richardson or Legacy for crew caps, Imperial for heat, Carhartt for job sites, and Nike for gifts. One buyer on r/neweracaps, choosing hats for a crew of technicians, wanted a hat the crew would be proud to wear off the clock. The goal was to avoid the look of promo hats "that were obviously free." The one detailed reply pointed to the Richardson 112.

| Job | Start with | Why it suits the job |
|---|---|---|
| A daily crew cap in your exact colors | Richardson 112 or Legacy MPS | Structured mid-profile fronts, in 84 and 31 colors |
| A soft, broken-in look | Legacy OFA or 47 Brand 4710 | Washed cotton twill, unstructured, low profile |
| A retro shape or a flat bill | YP Classics 6606 or 6006 | 6606 curved bill and 3 1/2 inch crown; 6006 flat bill and 4 inch crown |
| Heat and sweat | Imperial X210SM | Recycled polyester performance fabric, moisture-management sweatband |
| Job sites | Carhartt CT105298 | Washed cotton canvas front, a sweatband made to dry fast and fight odor |
| Hunting and camo | Kati LC5M | Licensed camo patterns such as Realtree, hook-and-loop back |
| A crew that wants stretch fit | Flexfit 5511UP or Richardson 110 | Sold in S/M and L/XL |
| Client and customer gifts | Nike NKFN9893 or New Era NE207 | A maker people know; on the NE207, pick a Flag color so the flag shows |
| A big event on a tight budget | Valucap VC700 | Foam front and rope braid, at the lowest hat price in our trucker collection |
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Yupoong the same as YP Classics and Flexfit?
Yupoong is the company behind both. YP Classics is its line of snapbacks and truckers, like the 6606, and Flexfit is the line known for stretch-fit caps. That maker's name is why buyers call the 6606 "the Yupoong."
Does the brand change the price of a custom trucker hat?
Yes, because the hat itself is part of every per-item price. On our site, the Valucap VC700 and Kati LC5M are the lowest-priced truckers, and the two Nike truckers cost the most. A YP Classics 6606 costs a little less than a Richardson 112. The price per hat falls as quantity grows; our custom hat pricing guide shows real numbers.
Can I mix trucker hat brands in one order?
Yes. Hats from different brands count as one design group when they share the same design, customization method, design size, and placement. A Richardson 112 and a Legacy OFA with the same front logo count together toward your volume pricing, and each hat keeps its own price. Change the design or move it to another placement, and it becomes a separate group.
What is the best trucker hat brand for embroidery?
Every trucker we carry takes embroidery, so the front matters more than the brand. A structured front, like the Richardson 112, YP Classics 6606, or Legacy MPS, stands up on its own and holds a logo flat. On the soft front of a Legacy OFA, the logo follows the crown's relaxed curve. On every brand, a front embroidery design can run up to 6 inches wide and 2.3 inches tall.
Can you get a hat brand that isn't on your site?
Yes. For a brand we don't list, such as OTTO, Pacific Headwear, or Decky, contact us by phone, email, or live chat before you order. We can source styles that are not on the site, and the order then runs like any other: design proof, approval, and production.
Choosing a Trucker Hat Brand
Choose a brand in three passes. Fit comes first: Richardson for big heads, Legacy or Imperial for small ones, and stretch fit only if you will collect sizes. The front comes next, structured or soft, cotton or polyester, curved or flat bill. Whether the maker's mark shows comes last.
If two brands are still close, order one of each with the same design, since there is no minimum. One-unit orders are not refundable, and a one-unit patch order costs more per hat. To feel a hat before you decorate it, ask us for an undecorated sample for a small fee plus shipping.
After you order, we email a design proof within 1 to 2 business days, with unlimited revisions. Standard production is 2 to 3 weeks for embroidery and printing and 4 to 6 weeks for patches, from proof approval. Rush is available on request if you contact us before you order, and U.S. shipping is free.
